Stuttgart goalkeeper Alexander Nubel, the 27 year old has been backed by the German fans to become the next number one goalkeeper for the German national football team.

Sky Germany has opened a vote for Germany fans to choose the next German goalkeeper after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury. With fans favoring Stuttgart’s Alexander Nubel ahead of the other goalkeepers.

Barcelona’s Ter Stegen has emerged as Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper. After Manuel Neuer announced his departure from the German national team. That leaves Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann searching for a new first-choice goalkeeper. With several names on the list, and Sky Germany are giving fans in Germany a chance to vote for him.

According to Sky Germany, the list includes Stuttgart’s Alexander Nubel, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp, Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann, Fulham’s Bernd Leno, Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu and Manchester City’s Stefan Ortega. 

Of the approximately 7,000 fans who initially voted, 63 percent of the vote went to 27-year-old Nübel. Ahead of second-placed Ortega and Trapp, who each received 14 percent. While Baumann, Atubolu and Leno received just four, three and two percent respectively.
